The rocky and bumpy island "Island of the Sun", 10km long and 3km wide, stands out from its indented silhouette on the cobalt blue waters of Lake Titicaca. To the east, the white peaks of the Royal Cordillera loom at a height of over 6 000m. In a peaceful atmosphere, Aymara farmers cultivate small parcels of corn on terraces, fish and raise livestock in the middle of the Inca ruins: this island was also one of the most revered sites in the Andean world in the 15C.
