Description
The only military academy in the west of the country stands at the foot of the Rampart Range. The tour includes a B-52 display, two panoramic viewpoints and, the highlight of the site, the Cadet Chapel (1959-1963). Topped by 17 aluminium spires, each 46m/150ft high, this cathedral comprises individual Protestant, Catholic, Jewish and interfaith chapels. At 11.35am each weekday, the academy's 4 000 cadets march smartly to lunch. The nearby Barry Goldwater Visitor Center (open 9am-5pm) provides information on cadet life.
