Description
The museum houses pieces relating to the Brotherhood of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia (Holy House of Mercy), 18C majolica tiles and the Renaissance, as well as portraits of the benefactors of this charitable institution. The Capela da Misericórdia (Chapel of Mercy) is worth a look: note the vault of the high altar decorated with religious and secular symbols related to the Great Discoveries, as well as the sacristy, completely covered with azulejos. The top of the Clock Tower commands a splendid view of the city.
