The Place du 1er Mai, partly planted with trees, is an important space in local life: a number of large events are held here, such as the Europavox music festival; Polydome, the exhibition and conference centre is also found here. Next door, the Coopérative de Mai is a concert hall, which puts on an exacting programme of current music.
