World War II history buffs recall 1,150ft-deep Lake Pend Oreille as the site of Farragut Naval Training Center. Farragut also served as a prisoner-of-war camp for Germans. The museum at Farragut State Park shows how the region, now an outdoor recreation getaway, has evolved.
