This rose-colored, Italianate mansion at the edge of the California State University campus was built in 1868 by successful businessman and politician John Bidwell (1819-1900), who founded Chico in 1860. Today refurbished in the style of the late 19C, the house offers glimpses into Bidwell's life and times. Exhibits in a visitor center highlight the Bidwell family role in the history and development of Chico.
