Useful information

Description

Jean Moulin (1899-1943) was the Prefect of Chartres at the time of the German invasion in June 1940. General de Gaulle entrusted him with creating the National Resistance Council, whose first meeting took place in Paris on 27 May 1943. Arrested on 21 June 1943 after being betrayed, he died on the way to Germany following the torture inflicted by the Gestapo. Jean Moulin's burial in the Pantheon in 1964 witnessed one of André Malraux' most vibrant speeches.
