Description
It was at Chalmette battlefield on 8th January 1815 that General Andrew Jackson and a force of about 5 000 soldiers successfully defended New Orleans against British invasion, thus securing US ownership of the Louisiana Territory. After watching the excellent video which recounts the Battle of New Orleans, visitors can drive or walk along the 1.5mi road leading past key battle sites.
