Useful information

Description

The priory is the largest medieval building (12C) in the Lake District. It escaped destruction during the Dissolution period by becoming a parish church. Its unusual tower is in fact made of two towers diagonally placed on top of each other. Inside, note the fine Perpendicular-style stained-glass window and, above the misericords in the choir, a remarkable sculpted canopy dating back to 1620.
