Useful information

Description

This neo-Tudor building has housed a museum and art gallery since 1899. The collection of art is dedicated to the Victorian animal painter Thomas Sydney Cooper (1803-1902). Based on the model of a cabinet of curiosities, the rest of the exhibition comprises Greek and Egyptian antiquities, Anglo-Saxon objects from the 5C-18C, ethnographic exhibits and stuffed animals. One section is devoted to the Buffs, one of the oldest regiments in the British army.
