Useful information

Description

From the car park at Captain Cook Lookout, a scenic walking track climbs up the hill to the top of the cliff, where you will discover extraordinary panoramic views. If you have binoculars (or twenty-twenty vision) you might be able to make out dolphins (year round) and humpback whales (Jun-Jul then Oct-Nov). The 23m-tall Cape Byron Lighthouse, known to be the most powerful in the country, is situated at the easternmost point of Australia. The former lighthouse keeper's residence houses a maritime museum.
