Useful information

Description

With its delicately carved stone tower and varnished tile roof, this church is one of the most visited sites in Budapest. Built from the 13C onwards, the church was modified on numerous occasions right up to the 19C, most notably during the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I and his wife Elisabeth (Sissi), who were crowned here as sovereigns of Hungary in 1867. Rebuilt after the Second World War, the building has rediscovered its former glory. The interior is decorated with geometric and plant motifs in neo-Medieval style.
