Isle of Arran
The Green Guide

Useful information

Description

Measuring some 268mi²/432km², Arran is the largest of the islands of the Clyde. Protected by the Kintyre peninsula, its climate is particularly mild and its landscapes varied. The mountainous north, for example, rises to a peak at Goat Fell (2,865ft/874m) and is depicted by highland moors and deep valleys, while the south is more characteristic of the lowlands. The seaboard alternates between sheltered sandy bays, jagged cliffs and little creeks. The quintessence of Scotland.
