Useful information

Description

The SS Great Britain was launched in 1843 and was the first iron-built, propeller-driven liner to cross the Atlantic. Today, the ship stands in her original dry dock and has been restored to recreate life on board. The museum explains the innovations introduced by Brunel, the ship's designer; the story of the ship itself; and the history of naval construction in Bristol from 1773 to 1976.
