Description
The marshland of the Marais Breton-Vendéen has slowly dried out over the centuries with the help of canals and channels. The salt marshes (around Bourgneuf and Beauvoir) are gradually turning into pastureland, where Vendée-breed horses, small brown cows and salt meadow lambs graze. From Les Moutiers-en-Retz to St-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie, this region is steeped in the ancestral lifestyle of the people of the Marais Breton, about which the Ecomuseum Le Daviaud in Barre-de-Monts offers lots of insights.
