The entrance to the kasbah, surrounded by imposing crenulated walls, is through a particularly low and lopsided gateway, originally conceived to make access to the medina extremely difficult. Its incredibly narrow alleyways form a mysterious labyrinth populated with children and cats, in which decrepit façades conceal studded doors of incredible beauty. You won't find any shops here, just houses with floors cleaned with plentiful water. In this part of town, the absence of commercial activity has enabled the kasbah to retain a certain authenticity.
