Description
The domain of bison, wolf and beaver, the forest was long a royal, then tsarist, hunting ground, before acquiring protected reserve status. Authorised guides take visitors into the Orlówka area for a glimpse of the primeval forest, untouched by human hand. While the majority of the 4,750-hectare forest is out of bounds to the public, you can appreciate its rich diversity along a 7km-path (easy 3hr walk): hundred-year-old oak trees, marshland, pine trees formerly used as hives...
