Useful information

Description

The National Monument to the Wars of Liberation was designed between 1817 and 1821. The Gothic steeple, designed by Schinkel and crowned with an iron cross, has given its name to the district. From the top of the hill, one of the highest in Berlin (66m), there is a beautiful view of Kreuzberg, and, to the south, of the old brick Schultheiss brewery, where the famous Berliner Weiß beer was once produced.
