Useful information

Description

After a short, fierce firefight in the early hours of 6 June 1944, Britain's 5th Parachute Brigade, whose emblem is Pegasus, took the two bridges at Ranville and Bénouville. Major John Howard thus won the battle and liberated the first small piece of France. Today, Café Gondrée (now known as Pegasus Bridge Café) and its museum are a place of remembrance for veterans and tourists alike.
