Description
This district was built from 1752. Designed by military engineer J. Martín de Cermeño, it is regular in layout and soon provided home to fishermen and dock workers. Despite a series of real-estate transformations, Barceloneta has retained a working-class, Mediterranean atmosphere with its straight lanes flooded in sunshine, fish restaurants and beach.
