Climbing Mt Inerie is not difficult, but the thick carpet of ash on the path and the steep incline mean it is challenging. When you get to the edge of the crater - a perfectly formed 250m-deep hole -, follow the crest to the summit (2 245m), from where there is a superb view over Bajawa, Bena, Mt Ebulobo (2 124m) and, on a clear day, the island of Sumba 100km to the south.
