In the Vallée de l'Aube, close to the border with Burgundy, this former Cistercian abbey built by Clairvaux monks rises up above a charming village surrounded by the forest. This vast architectural ensemble has had a turbulent past: sold as public property during the Revolution, the abbey then became a women's prison in the 19C. Auberive was restored and found a new vocation as a Centre for contemporary art, especially Expressionist art and artists such as Rustin, Lindström and Aïni.
