The Michelin Guide's review
This theatre was built during the Roman era (probably c 174 BC) under the aegis of Herodus Atticus, a wealthy Athenian politician, in memory of his wife. With its façade with three entrances and distinctly Roman style, it was able to accommodate 5 000 spectators. Originally it had cedar roofing.
