Encompassing 600 acres of second-growth redwoods, which replaced those cut by loggers in the late 19C, this was California's first municipally owned forest. A nature trail (.5mi loop; access from west side of parking lot at end of Redwood Park Rd.), formerly a logging route, winds through a fern glade at the base of the lovely redwood forest. Markers along the path detail early logging practices. More than 10mi of trails crisscross the forest.
