Useful information

Description

The Church of St Anne (1499-1525), with its three naves, is one of the most impressive examples of the late-Gothic style in Saxony. Twelve tall slender pillars soar into the ribs of the vaulting, which is made up of seven stars. This majestic composition is the work of Jacob Heilmann von Schweinfurt. The galleries have parapets embellished with scenes from the Old and New Testaments. Also worthy of mention are the Beautiful Door by Hans Witten, and the pulpit by sculptor Franz Maidburg.
