Description
This museum has a remarkable collection of modern and contemporary works by artists of the CoBrA (Copenhagen, Brussels, Amsterdam) movement, founded in 1948 by Danish, Belgian and Dutch artists seeking to break away from post-war artistic conventions to create more spontaneous works that were livelier and used brighter colours. They were inspired by popular and primitive art, drawings by children and the mentally ill. A wonderful overview of (semi-) abstract Dutch art from 1945 to 1955.
