Useful information

Description

This fortified palace was begun in 1254 or 1265 by Durand de Beaucaire. Bernard de Castanet turned it into a fortress, equipped with a massive keep, which can be seen from the river. Embellishments added over the years made the fortress less defensive (the rampart walk became a pleasant shaded path), eventually turning it into a proper palace, home to the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum since 1922.
