Description
Following refurbishment and extension, the museum has increased its exhibition area twofold (22 galleries). The museum is particularly focused on contemporary art, while the Scottish Collection highlights works by the likes of William McTaggart, whose style calls to mind the Impressionists. Emblematic of the artistic world in the 19C is the Macdonald Collection of 92 portraits by British artists. There are large-scale sculptures on display in the courtyard and adjacent rooms.
