Within the Parque Nacional Natural Sierra de la Macarena is the spectacular "Seven Colour River". A seasonal aquatic plant, Macarenia clavijera, the cycle of which is dictated by water levels, covers the rocky bed of the river, appearing to colour it with stains of red, green, black, blue or yellow, before disappearing in the dry season. An incredible phenomenon that can be observed between June and November.
