On the west coast of Kikai, this man-made 2km promenade slightly above sea level joins the villages of Araki and Nakazato. Referred to locally as "Sunset Promenade", it winds through splendid blocks of coral that have been shaped by storms over the centuries. It may be the preferred spot of anglers, but it is above all an opportunity to see the different strata of the former coral reef of which the island was originally a part, here in the middle of the Pacific.
