US-born, UK-raised chef Jun Tanaka’s career began in the early ’90s and this – the ninth restaurant in which he has worked – is also the first he has owned. Although situated on foodie Charlotte Street, it’s very much a neighbourhood spot, and both the lively downstairs with its counter for walk-ins and the more intimate first floor have a great feel to them. Good quality, seasonal ingredients are used in carefully prepared French dishes which come with plenty of flavour and a Mediterranean twist; these are designed for sharing but it’s not compulsory!
