If you’re a fan of hip, vibrant and trendy restaurants, then this converted farmhouse is a must! The music playing in the background, the large chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and the modern art on the walls all add to its appealing vibe. In the attractive open kitchen, André Gerrits‘ approach is as creative as the setting, as he prepares dishes which know no boundaries and demonstrate real culinary flair.
The chef uses vegetables from his own kitchen garden alongside other Dutch delicacies in his sophisticated creations, finishing a frothy oyster beurre blanc with lemongrass, for example, or enhancing a pumpkin sauce by adding vegetable kimchi. His cuisine has a fun and playful feel yet is also full of strong flavours. And rest assured, this skilful chef is also a master of more classic techniques, preparing dishes such as sea bass in a salt crust with the same culinary flair.
Although fun takes centre stage at ’t Amsterdammertje, the restaurant also maintains a highly professional approach. The restaurant’s delicatessen, Marché, is also well worth a visit.- MICHELIN guide inspectors
