One MICHELIN Star : High quality cooking, worth a stop!
Using top quality ingredients, dishes with distinct flavours are carefully prepared to a consistently high standard.
Set in the centre of the Thameside village of Bray, this sweet, quintessentially English inn is best known as Heston Blumenthal’s informal dining option – but that doesn’t make it any less of an experience. Start with a drink in the comfortable Royal Lounge, surrounded by some unusual taxidermy, before heading to the charming, low-ceilinged dining room with its parquet flooring, wood panels and beams. Concise menus offer time-honoured British dishes presented in a clean, modern style, with punchy flavours and the occasional playful element. The execution is precise, the combinations work beautifully, and different textures and temperatures play their part. Don’t miss the Quaking Pudding, which changes flavour with the seasons. Service is relaxed and friendly and the atmosphere buzzes with the hum of contented diners.
