Donzère Canyon

 Michelin Guide
 Well worth the diversions

  The Michelin Guide's review
This picturesque enclosed valley stands at the gateway to Provence. The Rhône rushes through the gap and the sheer vertical face of the left bank contrasts sharply with the right bank, depicted by isolated rocky outcrops. The bridges spanning the Rhone, up and downstream of the canyon, offer lovely views. At the top of the most jagged outcrop of the canyon stands a statue of Saint Michael, patron saint of this passage, once so feared by mariners.
