City and village
The Michelin Guide's review
In the Middle Ages, Tarragona had a very heterogeneous population, with nobles, knights, burghers, Jews, ecclesiastics, craftsmen and fishermen all living side by side. The very strong imprint left by Roman civilisation shaped the city's appearance, with Roman remains blending in - especially in the ‘Part Alta’ - with the elements typical of a medieval community (castle, cathedral, market, etc.).
