  The Michelin Guide's review
Loch Maree, 20km long and 5km wide, epitomises the rugged scenic grandeur of the west coast. The loch is ensconced between the towering form of Ben Slioch (980m) to the north and the foothills of Beinn Eighe. It is studded with isles, one of which, Isle Maree, was where Saint Maelrubha set up his cell in the 7C, after which time the island became a popular pilgrimage destination. Wayside parking spots have been created by the side of the loch so that motorists can stop and enjoy the scenery.
