The Pain de Sucre, a white cone-shaped monument was erected in memory of Lieutenant-General Lefèbvre-Desnouettes, who disappeared off the coast of Iceland in 1822. Its cone shape, dominating the bay of the River Seine, served as a beacon to sailors.
