The Michelin Guide's review
Svartifoss is the mineral showpiece of Skaftafell. Framed by incredible basalt columns, the "Black Waterfall", whose walls call to mind a gaping jaw in the relief, attracts all hikers. You reach it after passing two other less impressive waterfalls: Hundafoss and Þjófafoss. But it would be a shame to stop at seeing Svartifoss: continue and cross the bridge to see the falls from a different angle and climb to Sjónarsker (280m), from where there is a 360° panoramic view.
