This centre, devoted to culture and heritage, is inspired by the former architecture of Newfoundland and bears the name that used to designate the canning buildings. It is home to the Provincial archives, the Newfoundland and Labrador art gallery and the Provincial Museum. The latter is devoted to Newfoundland's prehistory and history. It charts the life of fishermen and indigenous cultures, in particular those of the indigenous Beothuk and Labrador Inuit.
