The Michelin Guide's review
Like all churches with female congregations, the Church of Santa Clara is entered through the side. Built in 1606, it contains a stunningly rich interior. The choir where the nuns attended services is separated from the nave by a magnificently made wrought-iron screen. The finely sculpted gold leaf lateral reredos are bursting with churrigueresque Baroque exuberance. The high altar reredos is unfortunately missing, sacrificed for the sake of neo-Classical fashion.
