The Michelin Guide's review
Built in the 16th century on the site of an earlier chapel, it is famous for its elegant Manueline portal in white limestone, the stones of which were transported from Portugal. Inside, admire the vaulted choir and the Baroque gilded statues of the Evangelists on the high altar. To the left of the choir, the sacristy, decorated with azulejos, contains some beautiful 17th-century jacaranda furniture. To the right, the treasury houses gold and silverware and very precious 14th-century religious vestments that belonged to Exeter Cathedral in England.
