The Michelin Guide's review
This baptistery, built in the mid-4C, is thought to be the oldest example of Christian architecture in Western Europe. Apart from the baptismal room with its octagonal pool, you will notice some Romanesque frescoes, moving in their magnificence, and an important lapidary museum housing a collection of Merovingian sarcophagi unearthed in and around Poitiers.
