Église Sainte-Marguerite

Religious monument
The Michelin Guide's review
Built during the reign of Louis XIII, this church, with its low nave and elevated choir, was enlarged in the 18C. The Chapelle des Âmes du Purgatoire is adorned with some unusual trompe-l'oeil frescoes by Brunetti. Behind the high altar is a marble Pietà by Eustache Nourrisson and Robert Le Lorrain (1705). It was long thought that the young Louis XVII (son of Louis XVI), who died at the Temple prison aged just ten, was buried in the neighbouring cemetery.
