Two splendid hiking trails that begin at Pangnirtung are well worth taking. The 13km/8mi Ikuvik Trail (map from the Angmarlik Visitor Centre) begins across from the campground and climbs 671m/2,214ft up Mt. Duval, with a fine view of the town and sound. Far more trodden, the 6km/4mi Ukama Trail begins at the road past the arena and follows the rocky bed of Duval River along a steep slope to a large boulder at a fork in the river. From here, an unmarked trail continues for about 8km/5mi to a campsite and a group of small lakes.
