The largest pagoda in Pakse (1849) is a hive of activity, hosting a bonze school in a peaceful setting on the banks of the River Sedon. Members of the royal family were cremated here, hence the opulent funerary stupas (that) erected in the courtyard. The sim (sanctuary) is home to interesting modern frescoes (1989) narrating the life of the Buddha.
