  The Michelin Guide's review
The spectacular gorges of the Yoshino River stretch over approximately 4km between Oboke and Koboke. Created by erosion, they lie in a trough of steep limestone cliffs streaked with schist in various tones of grey, black and reddish brown. The dark green waters of the river, by turns calm and turbulent, are particularly good for rafting and kayaking. Among the thick vegetation on the banks you can make out tracks left by the wild animals (macaques, deer), and the cliff faces take on evocative forms, such as a turtle's head.
