Between Oanes and Tau, the scenic Ryfylke route runs along the coast of Idsefjord. Around 20km after Oanes, a road on your right leads to the lodge at Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock). From here, you can walk to the plateau at the summit (2hr). From 600m above Lysefjord, the view over the fjord is astounding. Further along is Årdal old church, famous for its magnificent interior decoration. Finally, before reaching Sand, make a detour to see the timber houses and Renaissance church at the coastal village of Jelsa.
