  The Michelin Guide's review
This wonderful example of early Renaissance architecture was the home of the dukes of Nevers. Building began in the 15C by Jean de Clamecy, the Count of Nevers, who had tired of the fortress that stood where the town hall now is. The palace was embellished over time by the families of Clèves and Gonzague. There are towers, a courtyard, a ceremonial staircase, dormer windows decorated with caryatids and chimneys looking like organ cases - a truly enchanting palace!
