Kitay-Gorod

Well worth the diversions
City and village
The Michelin Guide's review
Kitay-Gorod, an area formerly devoted to teaching and trade, then to business, is Moscow's oldest quarter. Once fortified, it has preserved some if not all of its past appearance, and its little streets lined with renovated old houses only add to its charm. Churches (such as Trinity in Nikitniki) and palaces (Zariadie) are nestled on its well-preserved streets, where you are sure to experience a bit of the soul of Old Russia.
