Less accessible than the west of Iya Valley, the eastern section (Higashi Iya) welcomes far fewer visitors. It is nonetheless home to many sites that are well worth the effort, such as the hamlet of Ochiai and its houses dating from the Edo period and the impressive Oku Iya Kazura-bash vine bridges.
